Thanks to all who came and helped celebrate the Grand Opening of The Shueyville Art Gallery! A wonderful time was had sharing art, sipping wine (served by the Secret Cellar), enjoying refreshments and visiting with the artists. The community came out in force to support the gallery! Thanks!

Introducing Gallery artist Steve Twaddle and his beautiful photography
My first thirty-plus years were spent on a mid-western farm in Illinois. I feel my daily interactions with the elements, nature and landscape early in life have heavily influenced my photography. Most of my work is captured on back-country roads and while hiking in Arkansas' State Parks, State and National Forests, and Wildlife Management Areas. Given my agricultural background, I have a soft spot in my heart for the old, worn-down barns and outbuildings that tell the tales of our country's hard-working ancestors. I've also ventured outside the "Natural State" to various parts of the country to capture the natural beauty of our great country. My work has been published in Digital Camera Magazine and Arkansas Fish and Wildlife. I've contributed to the National Wildlife Federation in a story addressing the issues of the White River Navigation Project and provided the cover photo to a brochure concerning the Grand Prairie Irrigation Project. Major art purchases are hanging in Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, AR, and the FBI office in Marion, AR. My work is on display at the Arkansas Studies Institute Gallery in the Rivermarket District of downtown Little Rock. I also enjoy providing photography workshops throughout the state. |

Bio of John Paul Schafer
After graduating high school in 1989, I began teaching myself painting in a studio loft above mainstreet in my hometown of Independence, Iowa. During the early 1990s, I apprenticed as a silkscreen printmaker and worked as a commercial sign maker.
In 1996, I moved to Cedar Rapids to work as a graphic designer and illustrator. Later, I joined The Cedar Rapids Gazette as a newsroom artist, where I produced hundreds of images for the newspaper's editorial and features sections. I left the Gazette in January, 2007, to work as a freelance artist.
I'm currently painting for exhibitions, gallery sales and site-specific public and private commissions
