Introducing Gallery artist Steve Twaddle and his beautiful photography
My first thirty-plus years were spent on a mid-western farm in Illinois. I feel my daily interactions with the elements, nature and landscape early in life have heavily influenced my photography. Most of my work is captured on back-country roads and while hiking in Arkansas' State Parks, State and National Forests, and Wildlife Management Areas. Given my agricultural background, I have a soft spot in my heart for the old, worn-down barns and outbuildings that tell the tales of our country's hard-working ancestors. I've also ventured outside the "Natural State" to various parts of the country to capture the natural beauty of our great country. My work has been published in Digital Camera Magazine and Arkansas Fish and Wildlife. I've contributed to the National Wildlife Federation in a story addressing the issues of the White River Navigation Project and provided the cover photo to a brochure concerning the Grand Prairie Irrigation Project. Major art purchases are hanging in Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, AR, and the FBI office in Marion, AR. My work is on display at the Arkansas Studies Institute Gallery in the Rivermarket District of downtown Little Rock. I also enjoy providing photography workshops throughout the state. |

Bio of John Paul Schafer
After graduating high school in 1989, I began teaching myself painting in a studio loft above mainstreet in my hometown of Independence, Iowa. During the early 1990s, I apprenticed as a silkscreen printmaker and worked as a commercial sign maker.
In 1996, I moved to Cedar Rapids to work as a graphic designer and illustrator. Later, I joined The Cedar Rapids Gazette as a newsroom artist, where I produced hundreds of images for the newspaper's editorial and features sections. I left the Gazette in January, 2007, to work as a freelance artist.
I'm currently painting for exhibitions, gallery sales and site-specific public and private commissions

Beautiful pine coiled baskets by Bobbie Ney
Bobbies Bio
I was born in Harrisonburg , Va. where I lived until I graduated from college. I attended James Madison University for undergraduate and graduate school. I lived in Virginia Beach from 1974 until I moved to Iowa City in 1977. I worked as a School Psychologist in the public schools and retired in 2007.
I began making baskets in 1990 using reeds . I loved the variations in color and dyed my reeds to get contrasting colors in my baskets. I tried making a pine needle basket in the 1990s using raffia to sew the pine needles together. I wasn’t able to get the tightness of the basket nor the colors that I wanted. I took a class in 2005 making pine needle baskets. I was introduced to waxed linen thread which I could buy in various colors. Consequently, I was able to make colorful baskets using pine needles. The 14 inch needles come from the Southern Long Leaf Pine Tree found in North Carolina . I use agate, wood or self made bases. I have been in several shows around the Midwest selling my reed baskets and pine needle. Shows that I have participated in were Art in the Park (Des Moines ,) , Uptown Art Show (Minneapolis ), Art on the Square (Madison ), St. Catherines (St. Paul ), Thieves Market (Iowa City ) and Eastside Artists (Iowa City ).

Introducing Shueyville Art gallery artist, Susan Kennicott
Susan Kennicott is a midwest artist who achieved a love of nature at a young age while being raised on her family farm with her two brothers. Born to creative parents she was never taught to think inside the box. She was taught to look deeper..feel the softness of the fur, see the thoughtfulness in the eye, hear the whisper of the trees in the breeze.
Although having some formal art education while attending Western Illinois University and various workshops much of her art is self taught. She feels there are no mistakes only opportunities that can sometimes turn into accomplishments!
Recently Susan won first place in acrylics for "Tulip Petal Party" at the 2010 Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
"Tulip Petal Party" 2010 Iowa State Fair winner in acrylics
Susan has painted many commisioned pieces that have gone to collectors as far as Belize and Colorado Springs.
"Childs Play"
Juried into the 2010 Iowa State Fair
When not found managing the Shueyville Art Gallery she can be found in her studio that she shares with her two exotic birds.
